Update 8-3-12: I uploaded a new slide I had taken last year. It looks much much better, used a better camera and lighting conditions. Happily I re-present it to you...
Print out of stock, but Note me if you are interested
Structures and Space 12 was, as far as using watercolor was concerned, a trial run to this painting. I wanted to use watercolor for it, but since I had zero serious experience with the medium I needed a warm-up. I admire people who use watercolors with sensitivety and confidence, it's such a tricky medium, so different from oils and I have MUCH to learn.
Since the Chinese style mural, I wanted to do more with people and landscapes. I admire and looked to Casper David Friederich, Arthur Rackham, Norman Rockwell, Hiroshige and lots of Chinese masters whose names I don't know for inspiration and study.
I know this is getting long but I have one more thing: if you read my journal entry you'll know something about my Structures and Space series, and this painting ties into it.
Edit: Took a better picture, now the yellows are where they're supposed to be
