My first official Mother's Day. :) It was so nice!

I made a quartet of paintings for my mom, mom in law, grandma, and sister in law, and I realized that for the last couple years I've only submitted artwork that was made and given as a gift. Holidays and birthdays are my best excuses to make art now! Well, my husband and I are cooking a plan that should let me create more little paintings, so hopefully (though don't expect anything soon) some more art work, perhaps some more time-intensive and conceptual artwork, will be on the way.

Peace <3

In other news...I have cut dairy and caffeine from my diet. No coffee, ice cream, cheese etc. Doing this for my baby, as he is sensitive/allergic. And there seems to be dairy in SO many things, especially processed. Trying peppermint tea as a pick-me-up beverage. Rice milk is also yummy. Any ideas for other substitutes?

It's a more practical, rather homey project. Painting my kitchen cabinets. I'd dare say downright crafty. Working on it whenever my 6 month old takes a nap, or when someone is watching him for me. I hope to post something of a progress picture soon. :) It's been so long since I've painted that my hand gets really tired, heh.

Later!

By :iconpettryb: Each vignette suggests its own story, and I especially like the lower left hand corner one.

The Bedtime Tale by Hellanim

By :iconhellanim: A cute domestic scene. It reminds me of my family, and it is so simple and joyful.

The mother of Stephen the Great by syrannae

By :iconsyrannae: Lovely story, sweet scene, and pretty color pallet.

From my little family to yours~ <3 This was my husband's and my second Christmas as a married couple, and it was our son's first! Such a wonderful day. I hope you had a lovely Christmas too. Rejoice, rejoice! Emanuel has come to thee O Israel.

I haven't painted/drawn seriously or well since my little one was born. That's been hard, with having no time or energy to spare. But this time in my life will be fleeting, and it is so special, watching my little boy discovering the world around him, and I'll never get the time back. I am determined to enjoy being a new mommy without feeling guilty over neglecting my art. Only, my husband wanted me to paint him something, just a little tiny thing, for Christmas. He only wanted one dot of paint on a project I've been trying to do for almost a year but never got started on. Nothing else. Well, Christmas morning, while he and the baby slept, I did it. And for the pure joy it brought him, I'm so glad I finally was able to get started on artwork again, with that first dab of paint.

May you have a blessed Christmas Season. :star:

Update on life!

2 min read
So, After the mural installation I've been working on the bottom portion of the painting, finishing up those last areas of foreground so that I'll be relatively satisfied that I can leave it alone for life. I am limiting time spent on it to the end of this month, and I think that will suffice. The parts I'm working on hardly anyone will ever see, but those who do see it (priest, deacon, altar servers, choir members, people being baptized, lectors, and anyone curious enough to come up and look at any other time) deserve to see a finished painting. When that's done I want to have it properly photographed. Whether that means borrowing a fancy camera or having the fancy-camera-owner do it for me, it needs some proper documentation. I know it seemed that the project was done with the installation, and I've had to clarify that a number of times. I just have a wee bit more to go...

I haven't really had the time or the energy to spare to do more painting on any of my other projects. The demands of every-day life plus the added excitement of adding to our little family (our little boy is due in July!) have really taken me away from anything but the most urgent artmaking, ie. getting the mural finally finished. I spent some time today organizing my still-new studio, and dreaming about painting trees on the walls of the nursery and entering a local artshow for which the deadline is fast approaching. Also, my husband is waiting patiently (so so patiently!) for my promised cupboard painting, a project that has been in the sketchbook stage for a couple months.

And my husband has gotten me hooked on Stargate. We're watching SG1 and on the 4th season. How did I miss this series all these years?

Sometimes I get a chance to look at the ever growing stacks of deviations in my inbox, and some of you are seeing replies from me that are quite overdue. Sorry for my contiued absence! I am here, sometimes browsing, mostly lurking, hehe. Just thought I'd drop a line. I hope you all are well. Let me know how life is with you? <3
